How to Apply for the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program?
To apply for the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIP), you need to follow these steps:
- Find a designated employer: The first step is to find a designated employer in one of the Atlantic provinces (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Labrador, or Prince Edward Island) who is willing to offer you a job. Designated employers are approved by the province to participate in the AIP.
- Receive a job offer: Once you have found a designated employer, they will offer you a job. The job offer must meet certain criteria, such as being full-time, non-seasonal, and meeting the wage requirements.
- Get endorsed by the province: The designated employer will then submit an endorsement application to the province, indicating their intention to hire you through the AIP. The province will review the application and, if approved, issue an endorsement letter.
- Submit your application for permanent residence: With the endorsement letter, you can now submit your application for permanent residence to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). You will need to provide supporting documents, such as proof of work experience, language proficiency, and education.
- Wait for processing: Once your application is submitted, IRCC will review it and make a decision. The processing time for AIP applications is typically around 6 months. During this time, you may be eligible for a temporary work permit to start working in Canada while your application is being processed.
