India-Germany Announce Gratis Student Visas and Expanded Cooperations in Key Sectors

German Foreign Minister Wadephul’s visit to India marked 25 years of the India-Germany Strategic Partnership. Amidst this, both sides agreed to introduce Gratis Visas for short-term school and college visits, to foster student exchange.
In a recent press release, post the visit of German Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs Johann Wadephul to India, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) provided the highlights of the delegation-level talks that took place between Minister Wadephul and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
Both leaders reviewed the comprehensive India-Germany Strategic partnership, noting steady progress across diverse sectors such as trade and investment, defence and security, science and technology, green development, education, and people-to-people ties.
EAM Jishankar also thanked Germany for its continued solidarity and strong stance against terrorism. The discussions also touched upon the pressing global concerns, including the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the situation in the Middle East, and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific.
Amidst this, both sides agreed to introduce Gratis Visas for short-term school and college visits, particularly aimed at strengthening educational and student exchange.
During the visit, Wadephul also met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, emphasizing the deepening economic partnership between the countries.
Earlier in Bangalore, he interacted with German businesses and visited ISRO and IISc, exploring collaboration in green technologies, AI, digital transformation, space cooperation, and sustainable urban development.
This visit stands as a celebration between India and Germany of their 25 years of strategic partnership built on shared democratic values, trust, and a commitment to global peace and sustainable development.
