A fresh list of eligible fields of study for international students in non-degree programs has been laid out by the Canadian government. Notably, Canada’s International Student Program has seen some major changes with certain updates to the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) eligibility criteria that were announced on June 25.
119 fields of study are now eligible for PGWP, while 178 fields of study have been removed from the eligibility list effective June 25. The new list has been released for international students in non-degree programs.
The newly eligible 119 programs are directly in line with the occupations across all the economic sectors, while the 178 removed programs no longer align with current labor market needs. This strategic update ensures international graduates can fill diligent workforce gaps in priority areas of Canada's economy.
