Indians in Germany Earn More Than Locals, Envoy Calls for Skilled Workers from India

Amidst the growing US backlash over the country’s H-1B visa fee hike, Germany is stepping in to attract Indian talent. German Ambassador Philipp Ackermann has extended an open invitation to highly skilled Indians to explore opportunities in the IT, management, science, and technology sectors.
Mr. Ackermann shared on X that Indians in Germany stand among the top earners of the country, further adding that “Germany offers stability, reliable migration policies, and top-class job opportunities.”
In his video message, the Envoy emphasised that “the average Indian in Germany earns more than the average German, and that their high salaries reflect the significant contribution Indians make to our society and economy. We believe in rewarding hard work with the best opportunities.”

Changing U.S. visa Policies is Creating Opportunities for Germany
Taking reference to the drastically evolving U.S policies under President Donald Trump's leadership, Envoy Ackermann has linked Germany's migration rules to its famous cars, which are reliable, modern, and predictable, with no sudden zigzags involved. He has also stressed that Germany does not overhaul its immigration laws overnight.
This message followed after the recent U.S decision to increase the H-1B visa fee by nearly 60% to around USD 100,000 (INR 88 lakhs), making it more difficult and expensive for companies to hire foreign workers, and with Indians comprising over 70% of H-1B recipients, this change is expected to hit them the hardest, giving Germany a change to position itself as a more attractive and reliable destination for expats.
