Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued 500 ITAs in the latest Express Entry draw targeting candidates under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). To qualify
- Candidates required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 547
- Their Express Entry profiles must have been submitted before 5:26 PM UTC on May 21, 2024

This draw marks the fourth Express Entry draw for the month of May and which followed three earlier rounds: 2 category based selection draws for healthcare and education sectors and 1 draw targeting Provincial Nominee Program candidates.
So far in 2025 IRCC has issued a total of 34,440 ITAs through the Express Entry System. The majority of these invitations have been allocated to PNP candidates with the remaining distributed among CEC applicants, French speaking candidates and those in key occupational categories. New Immigration Minister Leana Metlege Diab to Lead IRCC and Further Rounds of Draws
The May 13th draw also signals a leadership transition at IRCC, as it is the last draw overseen by the outgoing Immigration Minister Rachel Bendayan. Newly appointed Minister Lena Metlege Diab, will now take the reins following a cabinet reshuffle by when Prime Minister Mark Carney.
Minister Diab is expected to advance key immigration reforms previously outlined by the prime minister, including:
- Stabilising new permanent resident intake at 1% of Canada's population by 2027
- Boosting francophone migration
- Revamping the Global Talent Stream (GTS) to attract top international talent
- Reducing reliance on temporary residence through study and work permits
The next round of Express Entry draws will now take place under the new leadership as Canada continues to refine its immigration strategy to meet labour market demands and long term demographic goals.
