The Australian Government revealed that from March 2024, student visa English language criteria will elevate from 5.5 to 6.0, while the minimum for temporary graduate visas will rise from 6.0 to 6.5.
The Migration Strategy implemented by the Govt of Australia has made modifications in English language requirements for student visas geared towards fostering a positive educational experience for international students in Australia. Thus, aiming to improve employment in the skilled workforce.

- The minimum score for undertaking a packaged ELICOS rises from 4.5 to 5.0
- No change for students solely studying English through ELICOS
- English language requirement for students in university foundation or pathway programs set at IELTS 5.5 (or equivalent)
- Increased English language requirements for VET and higher education courses necessitate higher scores for those enrolled in packaged ELICOS courses
