European Countries Issuing Most Schengen Visas to Indians

As per the European Commission's 2024 State of Schengen Report Indian Nationals submitted a whooping 1.1 million visa applications in 2024, underscoring intense competition for entry into Europe. However, the visa approval rates varied widely across Schengen countries with some nations emerging as more favourable destinations for Indian applicants, specifically.
Switzerland has topped the list granting the highest number of Schengen visas to Indian travellers in 2024 by issuing 190,162 visas out of 217,373 applications followed by France, which issued about 165,564 visas. However, an interesting point to note here is that Germany had one of the highest approval rates, that is, of 88.70% issuing 126,812 visas out of 142,955 applications.

VFS appointment availability also has a significant influence on the application success. Currently, Switzerland is offering next day appointment slots in major Indian cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore. While on other hand France has a limited early booking availability with the earliest appointment in New Delhi, scheduled for May 26th and Mumbai from May 28.
