The U.S. Department of State has released the August 2025 visa bulletin, highlighting significant updates in employment-based and family-sponsored Green Card categories. For Indian applicants, the bulletin brings a mix of positive movement and continuous stagnation across different visa categories.
Key Changes for Indian Applicants
Category | Final Action Date (India) | Change from July 2025 |
---|---|---|
EB-5 (Unreserved) | November 15, 2019 | Advanced by 6.5 months |
EB-2 | March 1, 2012 | No change |
EB-3 | May 22, 2013 | Advanced by 1 month |
Family-Based | Varies by subcategory | No change |
1. EB-5 (Unreserved)
Indian applicants in the EB5 Unreserved Investor Category benefit from a major advancement as the final action date moves forward by over six months from May 1, 2019 to November 15, 2019. Chinese applicants also saw progress with their cut off date shifting to December 15, 2025. Applicants from other countries in the unreserved category remain current, meaning no waiting period applies.
2. EB-2
The EB-2 category reverses for all countries except India and China. For these countries, the final action date shifts backward to September 1, 2023 due to high demand and annual visa limits. Meanwhile, India's EB-2 date remains unchanged at March 1, 2012 and China holds steady at February 1, 2020.
3. EB-3
Indian applicants in the EB-3 category receive modest relief, with a one month advancement from April 22, 2013 to May 22, 2013. All other countries, including China, see no momentum and remain current.
