Latest September 2025 IRCC Processing Times for Study & Work Permits

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has released an updated figure for application processing times, including study and work permits, visitor visas, permanent residency and citizenship applications, as well as various scholarship programs for September 2025. All these timelines reflect the current IRCC data and include comparisons to previous statistics from July 23, 2025.

Temporary Residence: Study Permit Processing

• In-Canada permits, extensions are processed in 163 days
• Normal Service goal: 4 months for applicants inside Canada; 2 months for outside.

Work Permit Processing

• In-Canada service goal: 120 days for both initial and extension applications.
• Outside Canada service goal: 60 days (56 days for IEC participants)

Visitor Visa Processing

Outside Canada service goal: 14 days

Super Visa Processing

Service standard: 112 days.

Economic Immigration

Express Entry

Service standard for all: 6 months

Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

• Enhanced: 6 months service target.
• Base: 11 months service target (actuals can vary).

Quebec Immigration

• Service standard: 6 months (excludes Quebec ministry processing).

Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)

• Service standard: 11 months.

• Spousal/common-law (outside Canada): service standard is 12 months.

Citizenship grant: 12 months service goal
