After the slowdown witnessed in express entry draws during September, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) increased its pace of federal immigration selections throughout October.
Additionally, IRCC also held the second express entry trade occupations draw of 2024 the first one for this category post-July.

Summary of Express Entry Draws in October 2024
In the month of October, IRCC held a total of six Express Entry draws spanning four streams and selection categories. The Canadian immigration department issued 5,961 Invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residency closely matching the 5,911 its that were lived in September draws.
Due to the comparable number of ITAs spread across more draws, the average size of each draw was smaller in October than in September, leading to an increase in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cutoff Score.

IRCC has so far maintained its approach of regularly inviting candidates from the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), and French language categories in the Express Entry pool to apply for permanent residency. Most of these categories have consistently taken place since July 2024.
According to IRCC's latest immigration levels plan these candidates will remain a priority for PR selection through the Federal Express Entry System.
While the number of ITAs issued in October was slightly higher than in September, it however, represented a decline in total ITAs compared to earlier months.
