Earlier this year, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) established plans to accept up to 10,000 sponsorship applications for the Parents and Grandparents Program in 2025. Starting July 28, 2025, IRCC will begin issuing invitations to apply, with the process continuing for about two weeks.
If you submitted your Interest to Sponsor form in 2020 but you haven’t received an invitation to the interest form yet, you will receive your invitation in the email account used for the application, including spam and junk.
Due to the number of forms remaining in the pool of interest to sponsor submissions from 2020, IRCC will send invitations to apply to potential sponsors from that pool instead of opening a new interest to sponsor form.
Apply Online Through Permanent Residence Portal
Those invited to apply as part of the 2025 intake can submit their applications electronically through the Permanent Residence Portal or the Representative Permanent Residence Portal.

Super Visa Alternative for Uninvited Sponsors
If you have not received an invitation this year, you can explore the Super Visa option for your parents or grandparents. This multiple-entry visa allows stays of up to five years per visit and remains valid for 10 years. Additionally, Super Visa holders can extend their stay by up to two years at a time without needing to leave Canada. This provides a flexible alternative while waiting for future sponsorship opportunities.
IRCC's 2025 Parents and Grandparents Program, with a new round of invitations, offers another opportunity for families to reunite in Canada, along with invitations being issued to applicants from the 2020 pool. For those not selected this year, the Super Visa remains a valuable alternative for extended visits. Stay informed about future updates by checking IRCC's official channels, and consider all available options to bring your loved ones home to Canada.
