IRCC Invites 471 PNP Candidates in First Express Entry Draw of 2025

Explore the details of 1st Express Entry draw of 2025 held by IRCC on January 7 along with latest updates of the prospects for candidates in the year ahead.
IRCC Canada has officially inaugurated Express Entry draws for the year 2025. The first draw held by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada IRCC is a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) only Express Entry draw.
A total of 471 Invitations to Apply (ITA) has been shared with applicants who have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 793.
The draw took place on January 7, 2025, following two Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws and a French language proficiency draw held in December. In the last month of 2024 (December) IRCC Canada invited a total of 2,561 candidates to apply for PR.

Throughout 2024, IRCC consistently focused on inviting candidates from Canadian Experience Class (CEC), PNP and French language proficiency categories. This trend is expected to continue in 2025, with the mentioned groups receiving significant emphasis in the selection process.
Candidates with French language skills, as well as those with professional experience in healthcare and trades fall under IRCC’s Federal Economic Priorities category for Express Entry as outlined in the latest Immigration Levels Plan 2025.
Meanwhile candidates from CEC, PNP and potentially other Express Entry programs are part of the In - Canada Focus category. These 2 categories are anticipated to account for the majority of IRCC’s Express Entry admissions, with an allocation of 124,689 landings planned to this year ahead.
