Australia Introduces New Requirements for Onshore Student Visa From January 2025

Starting from January 1, 2025 the Department of Home Affairs Australia, will no longer accept Letter of Offer for student visa applications lodged within Australia. Onshore applicants must include a Confirmation of Enrollment (CoE) at the time of application.
This new requirement applies only to visa applications submitted on or after 1st January 2025, and applications lodged before this date using a Letter of Offer would remain unaffected.

Applicants failing to provide CoE with their applications would be rendered invalid, preventing visa decision makers from assessing it. Additionally, an associated Bridging visa cannot be issued if the substantive visa application is invalid.
This Australia study visa update aligns the evidence requirement for onshore and offshore student visa applications ensuring a more consistent process. Providing a CoE at the time of application, demonstrates a stronger commitment by students to their intended institution offering greater certainty to Australia's international education sector.
The change however, does not affect alternative evidence requirements for students in the Foreign Affairs, Defence, or Secondary Exchange Programs.
