In a significant turn of events, India has officially resumed its e-visa services for Canadian nationals, nearly two months after the suspension caused by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's allegations of a potential Indian link to the killing of Khalistan separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada.
The Indian High Commission in Ottawa shared the news on Wednesday, stating, "Indian eVisa facility has been restored with effect from 22 November 2023, for all eligible Canadian citizens."
While last month saw the partial reinstatement of visa services, including entry visas, business visas, medical visas, and conference visas, tourist visas remain pending for Canadian citizens.

Addressing the situation, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar explained, "We had temporarily suspended visa services because the situation in Canada made it difficult for our diplomats to go to the office and do the necessary work for assessing visas. As the situation there has become more secure or relatively improved, I think we have found it possible for the visa services to progressively resume."
