Path Ahead for Skilled Immigration to Canada
Looking ahead, the federal government has ambitious plans for immigration through the Express Entry system. According to the latest Immigration Levels Plan, Canada will welcome 124,680 Express Entry candidates in 2025.
Of these allocated, more than 82,000 spots would be allocated to the newly introduced “In-Canada Focus” category, which prioritizes Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates and potentially includes those in the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and PNP-aligned streams.
The remaining 41,700 permanent residency admissions would target the Federal Economic Priorities category. This stream is designed to attract candidates with professional experience in high-demand occupations within the Canadian labor market.
As Express Enty evolves, the increased focus on in-demand skills and domestic talent reflects Canada’s commitment to meeting labor market needs while facilitating immigration pathways for qualified candidates.
