Canada has now become the #2 destination (after the UK) as the hottest destination for international students, surpassing the US despite strict visa caps and a global scramble for quality education.
A recent study conducted by ApplyBoard shows that Canada is outshining the US for global students in 2025, focusing on and marketing programs in tech and sustainability, offering a uniquely diverse campus life. Even after a strict student permit cap, Canada remains a top study destination for international students, with 42% of recruiters calling Canada “super appealing” for overseas learners.

A huge number of education giants – 90% – say that cost has to be their top priority, and Canada comes under the most affordable study destinations after Germany and Ireland.
