New Zealand’s University of Otago Announces ₹23 Lakh Scholarships for Indians

The University of Otago in New Zealand has launched a new undergraduate scholarship specifically targeting Indian students. The scholarships range from NZD 15,000 (approximately INR 7.76 lakh) to NZD 45,000 (around INR 23.4 lakh), with top academic achievers also receiving first-year residential college accommodation.
Indian students currently account for 11% of all international enrollments in New Zealand. The country saw a 34% increase in Indian Student numbers last year, while the University of Otago alone saw a 45% increase in Indian enrollment in 2024.
In partnership with OneStep Global, the University of Otago will be hosting its first-ever Otago Experience Student Outreach this September in Delhi, Bangalore, and Mumbai.
This event will offer students and parents the chance to meet faculty, explore a variety of courses in Health Sciences, Business, Humanities, and Sciences, and get personalized guidance on admissions, scholarships, and careers.

Career Outcomes for University of Otago Graduates
The employment rate of Otago graduates remains constant high, with 95% finding jobs within six months of graduation. The average annual salary for graduates is NZD 87,400 (around Rs 45.44 lakh). Alumni hold positions with leading employers, including ANZ, Deloitte, Fonterra, and ASB Bank, advancing into leadership roles across business, healthcare, and government sectors.
