Canada is proposing to revamp its Express Entry immigration system in 2026 by introducing three new occupational categories, which will focus on attracting senior managers, accomplished researchers, scientists, and distinguished military professionals from allied nations. How Express Entry Function Today?
From 2025, Express Entry has served as Canada’s main pathway for skilled worker immigration. Managed by the online Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), it currently features three main programs:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program

- Federal Skilled Trades Program
Applicants submit profiles to be assessed with the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which features factors like age, education, language proficiency, work experience, and adaptability.
