Canada’s West Kootenay Releases Priority Jobs List for PR in 2025

West Kootenay in southeastern British Columbia, Canada, has unveiled its priority sectors and occupations for the Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP), an employer-driven pathway to permanent residence (PR).
To qualify, foreign nationals must have a full-time permanent job offer from a designated employer in the region, within one of the following priority sectors:
- Health
- Education, law, and social or community or government services
- Sales and service
- Trades, transport, and equipment operations
- Manufacturing and utilities

Eligibility Requirements for Applicants and Employers
- Job offer must be in a priority occupation or sector
- Minimum 1 year of related work experience in the past 3 years
- Must meet the language and education requirements criteria
- Must have sufficient settlement funds
*Graduates from eligible institutions like Selkirk College may be exempt from the work experience requirements
List of Employer Limitations
Employers with a staff count of 1 to 65 can recommend up to 3 candidates per year, while those with 66+ staff can recommend up to 6
A small portion of recommendations may be made for other occupations within a priority sector, especially if the employer has previously hired under the pilot.
