From May 1, 2025, Alberata has launched new applications under “Alberata is Calling: Moving Bonus”, which is a one-time, tax-free $5,000 incentive focused on attracting skilled tradespeople to the province.
However, applicants need to be real quick as it's based on first come first served basis, here are the eligibility criteria and the application process for a hassle free transition.
What is “Alberta is Calling” Moving Bonus?
The Moving Bonus is made as a refundable tax credit valued at $5,000, that means it is not considered as a taxable income and can not be repaid. The primary purpose of this bonus is to ease the cost of relocation for workers coming outside the province. The program is designed to make sure that the transition works smoothly and without any financial stress.
However, this program is limited in scope, in terms of budget and number of recipients. With a hard cap at 2,000 approved applicants, the process operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
