Yukon has officially started issuing invitations for its 2025 Nominee Program intake after wrapping up a highly competitive selection round. The territory announced on May 23 that it received more submissions aligned with its 2025 priorities than the number of nomination spots available. This reflects growing interest among candidates aiming to settle and work in Yukon.
During the recent intake window from March 31 to April 22, a total of 502 eligible submissions were recorded. Of these, 392 applications matched the territory’s strategic priorities for the year. However, with Yukon’s nomination allocation cut in half for 2025, only 215 spots are available, making this intake round particularly selective.
Priority Candidates for Yukon Nominee Program 2025
Yukon is giving preference to candidates who have already received a letter of support under the temporary measures. These individuals hold a special work permit issued to foreign nationals employed in Yukon, with the understanding that their employers intend to nominate them for permanent residency in either 2025 or 2026. These permits were granted for a maximum of two years, and now place these workers at the top of the nomination list.
After priority spots are filled, Yukon will randomly select the remaining nominees from eligible applicants. Here are the groups being considered.
- Candidates with Yukon-based work experience of at least one year.
- Graduates of Yukon University.
- French-speaking or Francophone applicants.
- Those holding temporary measure letters of support.

Changes to the Yukon Nominee Program 2025
In 2025, Yukon revamped its Nominee Program by introducing an Expression of Interest (EOI) system to manage permanent residency nominations. This system replaces the older first-come, first-served model, allowing the territory to focus on candidates who closely match its evolving priorities.
Under the EOI system,
- Yukon employers must first submit a web-based EOI form for the foreign worker they wish to nominate.
- The YNP then reviews these submissions and selects candidates during the designated intake period.
- As of May 23, selected employers are receiving official invitations to submit full applications.
Yukon is also reaching out to,
- Employers whose EOIs were not selected but have been placed in a random draw pool for future rounds.
- Employers whose submissions were deemed ineligible under the program's criteria.
