IRCC Issues 6,500 ITAs in 1st Category Based Draw of 2025

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted another Express Entry draw inviting 6,500 candidates to apply for permanent residency (PR) through the French proficiency category.
This draw marks the official start of category based Express Entry draws for 2025 and applicants need to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 428 to be eligible. Applications that were submitted before 4:41 PM UTC on February 10th 2025 were only considered for this draw.
The February 19 draw is the 4th Express Entry draw of the February month following two Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws and a Canadian Experience Class draw earlier in February. So far IRCC has issued a total of 11,601 Invitations to Apply (ITA) this month alone
The focus in 2025 has largely been on CEC and PNP candidates aligning with IRCC's goal of meeting its immigration targets for 2025 - 2026. According to Immigration Levels Plan 2025 - 2027 the in Canada focus category has been allocated 82,890 admissions for the year, prioritising candidates already residing in Canada.
