Eligibility Criteria to Study in Canada Without a Permit

- Hold a valid work permit that was applied for on or before June 7, 2023.
- Work permit renewal applications submitted before the June 7 deadline also qualify, provided the applicant has received temporary work authorization while waiting.
- Applications submitted after June 7, 2023, are not eligible for this policy, even if the individual is currently residing in Canada.
- If someone applied to extend their work permit before their original permit expired but missed the June 7 cutoff, they fall under "maintained status" and cannot claim the exemption.

How Long Can You Study in Canada Without a Permit?
Eligible people can study for the entire duration of their valid work permit in Canada. If you have applied for an extension before your permit expired, you may continue studying until a final decision is made on your extension application.
- The exception will remain valid up to June 27, 2026.
- If your work permit expires before that, your right to study without a permit ends with the permit’s expiry.
