Planning to migrate to Australia? The Victoria Skilled Occupation List 2026 is an important update for skilled professionals looking at state nomination options. For the 2025-26 program year, Victoria has received 3,400 nomination spots, which is lower than last year’s allocation.
Out of these, 2,700 places are set aside for the Subclass 190 visa, while 700 spots are available under the Subclass 491 regional visa pathway. These numbers directly affect which skilled occupations get priority and how competitive the process can be. Let’s find out the complete list of skilled occupations and what this allocation means for applicants.
What is the Victoria Skilled Migration Program?
The Victoria Skilled Migration is an initiative of the Victorian government designed to attract and retain skilled workers in critical industries facing labor shortages. It provides a fast-tracked pathway to permanent residency for eligible individuals through two visa streams:
- Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190): This is a permanent visa that allows you to live and work in Victoria without any restrictions. There are 2,700 places, with the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (subclass 491) having 700 places.
- Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491): This is a five-year provisional visa that requires you to live and work in regional Victoria for three years. After meeting the regional work requirement, you can apply for permanent residency through the subclass 190 visa.
